The result is Euphoria Podcast 01 which gives a first hand account into origins of Omni A.M. and Euphoria Records. Marky Star, DJ Mix, Tokyo

September 18, 2008 by euphoriarecords

Marky Star is back in action Euphoria style with a hot new DJ mix! Listen close as Marky gives us a peak into the underground sounds of Tokyo’s night life. If you find yourself in Shibuya be sure to catch his party Glow Up (Japanese Mixi Link) where you can hear him and other like minded locals represent cutting edge music thats both edgy and sexy.

This is what Marky had to say about this very Euphoria, very unique set…

“This is a mix I did to promote a small bi-monthly I play here in Tokyo called Glow Up.  This set is basically what I played at the second event.  It wasn’t intentional at the time, maybe it was subconscious,  but there is a story in there – quite a personal one at that, but I think a lot of people can relate to it at some point (or points) in their life.  It starts with the end of a serious relationship, it’s angry and defensive and isolated.  Next is going out, going crazy, and escapism thru whatever, booze, reckless sex and being bad in general.   From here the mood lightens up and there’s a lot of ear candy, finally some kind of equilibrium has been reached and  you get comfortable with yourself – love music for music’s sake – objectivity.  Meet new people, flirt, make progress.  In the end the mood is really high, positive – like the excitement after hanging out with someone you like.  In the end, could it be love?

I dunno.  Sounds a little hokey when I think about it too much.  But, if you hear it too, then maybe we’re both crazy.  Anyways, enjoy it by yourself or enjoy it with a friend.  And remember, always cover your mouth when you cough.”

Peace

Omni A.M.

August 6, 2008 by euphoriarecords

Euphoria Records launched in the late 90’s in Chicago by producers Adam Collins and Marky Star as an alternative to what they saw as a stagnating house scene centered around filtered disco loops. Omni A.M. has kicked against the strict conventions in the rigid Chicago House scene of what ‘is or isn’t House.’ With musical tastes ranging from rock to reggae, ambient to house and borrowing heavily from dub and techno, Adam and Marky’s first releases drew heavily from Chicago’s early days of moody Acid House and the newly emerging House sounds from South London and San Francisco.

With early records like “Seducing Reality” and “Keep Doing That“/”Can We Get“; dark and chugging psychedelic House that is both hard and deep, Omni A.M. quickly achieved cult status, finding their way into the crates of such influential DJ’s as Derrick Carter, Mr. C, “Evil” Eddie Richards, and Terry Francis while “Beat Dis,” a breaky analog salute to dance culture, even landed on Tyrant DJ’s Lee Burridge & Craig Richards’ prestigious mix compilation for Fabric. This as well as collaborations with a veritable “Who’s Who of House,” including hip-house legend Tyree Cooper and early UK tech-house don Mark Ambrose, have helped earn Omni A.M. recognition on both sides of the Atlantic as the first U.S. innovators of what is now called “Tech-House”.

Blanali vs. Adam Collins

Tech Sound Release Art Work

Tech Sound Release Art Work

This week marks a continued tradition amongst all Euphoria Artists. Collaboration! Adam Collins and Bogota, Colombia based bad ass Blanali team up for their first release out on Tech Sound.

The two first met in Bogota while Adam was on tour in there in 2006. Invited to an underground show and hooked up through DJ Camea (Clink Records) back in NY, all paths lead to hearing a sick minimal set performed live on one Roland keyboard by Blanali.

Making a strong connection at the party, after party and still to this day, Adam and Blanali have been swapping remixes back and forth ever since.

This release is a mash-up of tracks thus getting the propper  ’vs.’ between the names. 2 new originals by both artists and Adam’s better-late-than-never remix of the popular 9am original.

Check out Blanali’s myspace page to hear the 9am (Adam from 1891) original and more deep minimal tracks from this truly unique producer. A trait that makes him totally Euphoria!

Follow that up with Adam’s myspace page to get a dose of his 9am remix and the Electro funky Jennifer (Run With It Mix)that releases on Juno and Beatport this coming week.

Euphoria Records is proud to announce our new partnership with Beatport.com. Euphoria Records has been on the back burner for quite some time now. But we are coming out of hiding to offer our unique brand of dance music that was started in the late 90’s.

Our first offering is the release of Key, the Omni A.M. debut full length album that launched Euphoria Records and a cult following. (The original art work can be seen on the CD above. Only 500 unites were ever made.) After this rebirth we will continue through our 10th release where we will pick up with the newest material that we have recorded and collected.
